Airbnb gift card for a group trip — does everyone need their own or can one person hold it?

Planning a group booking and thinking about pooling money into one Airbnb gift card instead of splitting payment. Anyone done this?

One person can hold the whole Airbnb gift card balance and book for the group, it's tied to the account not per-guest.
